Introduction to Electricity - Saturdays
This series of two 90-minute hands-on learning sessions introduces and reinforces fundamental electrical concepts. A primary focus is on developing an intuition for understanding the behavior of electricity. Concepts of voltage, current, conductors and insulators, and series/parallel are introduced and reinforced with fun experiments and demonstrations. By the end of the series, a typical student should be able to connect batteries, motors, light bulbs, and switches, and assemble them to make simple useful circuits.
The target participants are 4-6th grade students (or older novices). The experiential nature of the curriculum requires limiting class size to 10 students; students should expect to work in pairs for some activities.
The workshops are intended to be experienced in sequence, as the later concepts build upon previous experiences.
