HomeWorkshop: Digital Photography

Our photography workshop teaches you to use DSLR cameras (Digital Single Lens Reflex). You may use your own if you have any DSLR of any brand. We will not use smart-phones as cameras in this workshop.

Basic Digital Photography

Would you like to learn all about digital cameras and how to get the best photos from them? We offer three 90-minute classes to start, but with student interest we can extend the classes or offer more advanced classes to meet their needs.

We will explain DSLR cameras and all the best practices for creating interesting and artistic photos, from standard portraits, landscapes, and family photos to specialized and artistic techniques that capture speed, slow-motion, extreme lighting, or night and astro photography. We will also show you how to digitally process your photos on a computer using free, open-source tools. You will keep your photos on a USB stick to take home, and you may print your photos on a photo printer!

Bring your own camera, or borrow one of ours until you decide what to buy.

For best results, bring your own computer so you can start learning to edit the photos and continue working at home.

Your instructor is a former professional photographer with over 45 years of teaching experience.

NOTE: This web page explains the details of this workshop, but the workshop is scheduled only occasionally. If there is none currently scheduled, email us to see if we can schedule one for you.
