Students will learn about radio wave propagation, the electromagnetic spectrum, layers of the ionosphere, electronic circuits, radio operation, electrical safety, antennas, and so much more!

Students will learn how to solder electronic circuits and build an FM radio receiver to keep.

For many students, ham radio is a gateway into STEM careers such as Electrical Engineering, Space Exploration (many NASA astronauts are licensed amateur radio operators!), Emergency Management, Radio Systems Specialist, Aerospace Engineering, Medical Fields such as X-ray/MRI technicians.

This is one of a series of 90-minute hands-on learning sessions that introduces and reinforces fundamental mechanical concepts. A primary focus is on application of these concepts. Concepts of a linear actuator and mechanical movement are introduced and reinforced with fun experiments and demonstrations. By the end students will be able to understand and create a mechanical engineering based invention along with obtaining a vast amount of knowledge on the basis of mechanical engineering.
